Is it possible for tourists to explore a Mayan ruin? |
Yes it is. guided tours of several Mayan Ruins in Belize are available through tourist organizations. Ruins my also be seen in various locations in the Yucatán Peninsula, from the Lowland Rainforests of Mexico up to the Guatemalan highlands through to the Pacific coast of Guatemala. El Salvador and East of Honduras were also considered Mayan territory. The Mayan of today live in the Yucatán Peninsula and Chiapas state in Mexico, and the Guatemalan highlands. There are currently between four and six million Mayan living today, broken down into several ethnic groups speaking over around 30 languages.
